Research Park is a technology hub for corporate research and development operations. EnterpriseWorks is an award-winning incubator at the Research Park that focuses on science and research-based start up companies commercializing technology from the University of Illinois. We have a multifaceted team of professionals and interns dedicated to helping our startups and corporations thrive in the Research Park. 

Event Coordination Internship 

The Event Coordination Intern will demonstrate their strong planning and organizational skills by coordinating and managing meaningful, high-impact events throughout the year. They will collaborate with Research Park leadership and the EnterpriseWorks intern team. 


  • Applicants must be available to work 40 hours per week this Summer 2018 and be willing to continue at least 10-20 hours per week during Fall 2018 
  • At the time of employment, you must be a full-time enrolled student at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign
  • Graduation date must be December 2018 or after
  • Strong planning and organizational skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent ability to balance and prioritize multiple projects
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to coordinate with multiple vendors
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Strong project and time management skills
  • Ability to quickly resolve problems
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (ExcelWord, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environments and balance multiple projects
  • Ability to work on short deadlines 


  • Provide support to the Assistant Director of Talent & Programming and the Events Coordinator to plan and implement over 200 events annually including small workshops, networking socials and large-scale conferences 
  • Coordinate with Senior Event Intern, internal intern team and staff to ensure events run smoothly
  • Coordinate with multiple external vendors
  • Maintain comprehensive event planning documentation leading up to events as well as compiling feedback and post-event reviews 
  • Maintain clear communications regarding event status
  • Ensure all event logistics are completed on-time and within scope 

CompensationHourly wage will be $12.00/hour and will be paid by the University of Illinois 

Timing: The internship will begin immediately during the Spring 2018 semester on a part-time basis (~10-15hrs/wk) and transition into full-time hours (40hrs/wk) over the summer (May-August 2018). Pending a successful performance review, the internship will continue through the Fall 2018 semester and beyond. 

Reporting: Position reports to Assistant Director for Talent & Programming.
