Project Coordinator

Do you thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented atmosphere? The Project Coordinator position at the University of Illinois Research Park and EnterpriseWorks provides you the chance to apply your organizational and problem-solving skills to manage a variety of projects for a diverse group of clients including startups at EnterpriseWorks. We are looking for someone who is self-motivated and can not only identify problems but is driven to create solutions.

This position will begin training immediately Fall 2019 and will continue through Spring 2020 and Summer 2020, up to 40 hours per week. 

What You'll Do

As a Project Coordinator, you will be responsible for managing a wide range of projects. This includes assembling a team of interns to best fit the needs of each project and providing support to that team throughout the duration of the project. You will kick off projects by meeting with clients to gauge the scope of work, set client expectations, and determine timelines and deliverables. You will also create contracts outlining the agreed upon terms. You will help the team meet deadlines and ensure projects are executed and delivered successfully. The ideal candidate will be able to lead intern teams by providing support, tools to collaborate, and freedom to work. It is important to know when to step back, not micromanage, while also making sure the project is moving forward.


  • Applicants must be available to work 10-20 hours per week this Spring 2020
  • At the time of employment, you must be a full-time enrolled student at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign 
  • Graduation date must be December 2020 or later (Preferece for May 2021 or later)
  • Must maintain clear communications with management on project status
  • Ability to manage several projects at once and previous project management experience
  • Strong multitasking, time management and production skills 
  • Ability to self-manage and complete projects in a timely manner 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with clients 
  • Strong organizational and teamwork skills 
  • Ability to quickly grasp a basic understanding of complex technologies
  • Being creative and flexible with projects  

Nice to have: 

  • MBA candidates preferred 
  • Project Manager experience in any student organization or other organization 
  • Have a business perspective and marketing knowledge

Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis, we are looking to fill this position as soon as possible. 

Compensation: Hourly wage will be $12-$14.00 per hour based on experience and will be paid by the University of Illinois. 

Reporting: Position reports to the Assistant Director for Incubator Management. 

Timing: Student is expected to work 10-20 hours per week during the academic year. Pending successful performance reviews, the internship can continue through multiple semesters including a full-time internship during the summer. 

Promotion potential: Demonstration of strong leadership skills and efffective project managament can lead to a promotion to a Project Manager and then Senior Project Manager position.
