Position Summary:
We are seeking a University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) student to support Abbott data science and advanced analytics team on a key project to improve forecast accuracy of our products by integrating reinforcement learning or improved approach into current forecasting solution. Results will help inform supply chain on producing right amount of product and improve marking activities. This will also provide trends and market direction that sustain a competitive advantage of Abbott’s brand.
The Student Will Be Responsible For:
  • Reviewing and synthesizing insights from literature on current techniques
  • Reviewing, analyzing, and structuring data that can be used for modeling
  • Providing information on potential methodologies, algorithms, and results
  • Producing database structure, pseudocode, and mathematical model
  • Communicating findings and progress to project leaders on a regular basis

  • Must be currently enrolled as a graduate student (MS or PhD) at UIUC
  • Field of study in applied mathematics, statistics, computer science, or engineering
  • Must have at least 1 year of experience in graduate school
  • Experience with mathematical models, data analytics, and understanding current methodologies
  • Proficiency in R or Python programming and SQL database
  • Attention to detail, effective communicator, and excellent verbal/written English language skills
  • Self-motivated problem solver that can lead a project from beginning to end
