CHICAGO – Sept. 13, 2019 – Motorola Solutions today announced the opening of its first college campus innovation center at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign Research Park.


P&G Smart Lab Research Park

Champaign, Illinois (September 5, 2019) - The Procter & Gamble Company announced today that it will be opening its first Smart Lab at the University of Illinois Research Park.

The Smart Lab will bring together interdisciplinary teams of students from a wide variety of backgrounds to rapidly prototype and innovate in the space of consumer insights. Lab students will work directly with P&G employees to move consumer research projects from concept to execution within weeks rather than months.


A modern, automated greenhouse will soon be constructed in the Research Park, with its purpose to engineer plants to more efficiently turn the sun’s energy into food to sustainably increase worldwide food productivity.

Research Park’s “State Farm Building” at 2001 S. First St., has found new a new owner under Avrum Partners LLC. The company is now under contract to buy the building next month.

The University of Illinois has announced plans on expanding the convention center at the I Hotel and Conference Center. The decision was made recently by the UI Research Park board.

HOPKINS, Minn. The Research Park at the Urbana-Champaign campus will be the home of the newest Cargill Innovation Lab, the company announced today.
